Plans for a third installment in "The Ring" franchise have been floating around for years, but now things are really moving forward. The sequel, which is actually intended to reboot the series, will be titled "Rings" and F. Javier GutiƩrrez is attached to direct. New reports also indicate that Italian actress Matilda Lutz ("Fuoriclasse"), a relative newcomer, has been cast in the lead role. The script is being written by David Loucka and Akiva Goldsman. What is interesting is that the title "Rings" has also been used by Jonathan Liebesman for his Ring-inspired short which carries the legacy of the story further and could lay an intriguing foundation for the sequel.
