Warner Bros. recently announced that they were moving forward with a new line-up of DC movies following "Batman V. Superman", including "Suicide Squad", "Wonder Woman", "The Flash" and "Green Lantern". Now Warner Bros is very close to signing deals with Will Smith, Tom Hardy and Margot Robbie for "Suicide Squad". Robbie was in talks to star in DreamWorks' "Ghost in the Shell", but apparently negotiations broke down, which means that the DC Comics movie could be her next project.
The comic focuses on a team of "incarcerated supervillains who must undertake high-risk black ops missions in exchange for commuted prison sentences". While the protagonists have changed throughout the comics' history, rumors indicate that Deadshot, Harkness (a.k.a Captain Boomerang), Vixen, Blockbuster, Multiplex, Jaculi and Mindblogger will be part of the new film, with the first three serving as leads.
"Suicide Squad" opens in theaters on August 5, 2016.
