DEADPOOL Movie Starring Ryan Reynolds Finally Happening

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool
Ever since Ryan Reynolds starred as Deadpool in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", there have been constant rumors of a spinoff film featuring Reynolds as the "Merc with a Mouth". Years have passed and no Deadpool movie. But now, it seems like it's all finally coming together.

Ryan Reynolds is still on board to lead the film and 20th Century Fox has already set the release date. "Deadpool" opens in theaters on February 12, 2016. There are also rumors that the budget is set at around $50 million, although I'm sure it's far too early for any definitive numbers. Furthermore, the spinoff will be a part of the X-Men universe according to writer/producer Simon Kinberg:
"There’s definitely a sort of overall plan that we’ve all been talking about for the X-Men universe now,” Kinberg explained, “and Deadpool obviously fits into that. So yeah, I guess I would say it’s part of certainly an overall timeline and thought process that goes into these films, some of which is inspired by the comics and some which is inspired by seeing what Marvel’s done with telling a larger tapestry and linking all those movies together, even as they stand independently as well. The same kind of thought is going to go into these X-Men movies at Fox."
However, one big issue for the movie is the fact that Deadpool tends to break the fourth wall often, which is very funny in the comics, but I'm not sure how that will work out in the context of the ultra-serious X-Men films. Deadpool is completely in a league of his own, so the filmmakers will have quite a challenge on their hands. And for everyone expecting this to be R-rated (because it should be), it's not. It's going to be PG-13. Definitely not like in the test footage that was leaked earlier this year (watch below).
