HBO has confirmed that
Colin Farrell (
"Phone Booth") and
Vince Vaughn (
"The Wedding Crashers") have signed on to star in the new season of the highly acclaimed series
"True Detective". They have also released the first descriptions of the characters the two actors will play. Farrell will star as Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him. Vaughn will play Frank Semyon, a career criminal whose business partner is killed, an event which endangers his legitimate business. The first two episodes of the second season will be directed by
Justin Lin (
"Fast & Furious 6"). As for the rest of the cast, so far there are reports of
Taylor Kitsch,
Elisabeth Moss and
Michelle Forbes being in talks to star. If Kitsch's negotiations succeed, he will portray
"Paul Woodrugh, a handsome, 28-year-old military veteran who has seen his own share of violence and destruction." The new season, which will have 8 episodes, will begin filming in California in October.
