I suppose James Wan's "Insidious" qualifies as franchise-material considering it managed to become a big hit on a small budget (made on $1M and earned $100M) and that's pretty much what any Hollywood studio dreams of. Found-footage flicks are the perfect cash-machines, but Wan can still do it without the camcorder gimmick, for now. The "Saw" director and his favorite writer, Leigh Whannell, will return for the sequel as announced by Whannell in an interview : "It is with great excitement that we announce our commitment to a second installment of this story. Both of us feel that we can mine more terror from the world we created and know that if we assemble every member of the original team, we will have an amazing continuation of the story for fans of the first film." The film is set to being filming sometime this year and is headed for a 2013 release. To find out more about "Insidious", read The Entertainment Factor's review.
