Apple TV+ has officially confirmed that "Ted Lasso" has been renewed for Season 4. Series lead Jason Sudeikis will reprise the titular role, but no other castings are officially confirmed at this time. It had been previously reported that options had been picked up for Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift.
Here's what Sudeikis had to say about the renewal: "As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to 'look before we leap', in season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it's exactly where they're meant to be."
Channing Dungey, chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Television Group and WBD US Networks added: "If ever there was a show the world needed more of right now, it would be 'Ted Lasso'. We — along with countless fans around the globe — have been rooting for another season, and it is an incredible feeling to be able to say, 'Yes, it’s happening!' We thank our partners at Apple and can't wait for Jason and the entire 'Ted Lasso' dream team to step back onto the pitch and deliver another season of this phenomenal series.".
Sara Walker and Phoebe Walsh are writers and producers on the new season, with Sasha Garron co-producing. Jack Burditt ("Nobody Wants This", "Modern Family", "30 Rock") joins Season 4 as executive producer under his new overall deal with Apple TV+. Sudeikis will executive produce in addition to starring.
Brendan Hunt, Toheeb Jimoh, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, and Bill Wrubel also executive produce. Goldstein is attached to write and executive produce along with Leanne Bowen. Bill Lawrence executive produces via his Doozer Productions alongside Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. Julia Lindon is a writer and Dylan Marron is story editor.
"Ted Lasso" was developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Kelly, and Hunt based on the preexisting format and characters from NBC Sports. Warner Bros. Television, where Doozer is under an overall deal, produces with Universal Television. During its run, the show was nominated for 61 Emmy Awards, winning 13.
