"A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" is a biopic directed by Marielle Heller ("Can You Ever Forgive Me?") from a script by Micah Fitzerman-Blue & Noah Harpster ("Maleficent: Mistress of Evil") based on the Esquire article "Can You Say ... Hero?" by Tom Junod.

The film stars Tom Hanks as beloved television icon Fred Rogers, and it centers on the real-life friendship between Rogers and journalist Tom Junod (Matthew Rhys). The cast also features Chris Cooper, Susan Keleichi Watson, Maryann Plunkett and Enrico Colantoni.

"A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" premiered at this year's Toronto International Film Festival and it was released in theaters on November 22, 2019.

"Tom Hanks portrays Mister Rogers in A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. After a jaded magazine writer (Emmy winner Matthew Rhys) is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers, he overcomes his skepticism, learning about empathy, kindness, and decency from America's most beloved neighbor."
