The fifth season of the British crime drama series "Peaky Blinders" has premiered on August 25, 2019 on BBC One in the U.K. and was released on October 4, 2019 via Netflix. Created and written by Steven Knight, the show is set in 1919 and the 1920s, and it follows a gangster family in Birmingham, England, and their cunning boss Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy). The cast also includes Paul Anderson, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Finn Cole, Tom Hardy and Helen McCrory.
The new season is set 1929 during the Wall Street crash, which hits the Shelby fortune pretty hard. Meanwhile MP Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin) wants Tommy, now also an MP, to help him with his radical new vision of Britain. Anya Taylor-Joy, Brian Gleeson and Cosmo Jarvis also join the cast this season.
