"David Makes Man" is a new coming-of-age drama series created by Oscar-winning "Moonlight" scribe Tarell Alvin McCraney and executive-produced by Oprah Winfrey. The series follows a 14 year old genius named David (Akili McDowell) from the projects who is haunted by the death of his closest friend and relies on by his hardworking mother to find a way out of poverty. The cast also includes Phylicia Rashad, Nathaniel Logan McIntyre, Isaiah Johnson, Ade Chike Torbert and Jordan Bolger.
"David Makes Man" premiered on August 14, 2019 on OWN.

ReplyDeleteI saw Moonlight in theatres 10 times because it resonated with me, my childhood and it brought me to tears the first 5 times. I have watched the first episode of David Makes Man 4 times already. The title caught my eye because it didn't sound right. Then I watched it and came to my own understanding. The visuals, the actors, the scenes and the emotions in them combined give a rawness and beauty at the same time. Now I have something to eagerly await for on Wednesday nights.
