20th Century Fox arranged a special livestream event for the "Independence Day" sequel. During this event, director Roland Emmerich and the film's cast talked about the characters and as much of their respective backstories as they could, considering that the film is still in production and the plot is kept under wraps. The studio also revealed the film's title, which is "Independence Day: Resurgence", and the animated treatment for it, which is reminiscent of the original film's title intro. The live event also offered a look at the film's set and particularly one of the ships featured in the movie, a moon tug, which is a forklift of sorts.
"Independence Day: Resurgence" stars Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Sela Ward.
The film will open in theaters on June 24, 2016.
