Rudd will, of course, star as Scott Lang a.k.a Ant-Man, VanCamp will reprise the role of Agent 13 from "The Winter Soldier", and Hurt will return as General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross. The latter is the most surprising addition, because Hurt played Ross in "The Incredible Hulk", and that film has been pretty much ignored so far in the MCU.
The press release also reveals that other characters who will be appearing in "Civil War" are The Vision (Paul Bettany), Jim Rhodes (Don Cheadle) and Crossbones (Frank Grillo). The only one still not cast is Spider-Man, but I suspect we'll have a name very soon. Until then, here's the official synopsis:
"Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain."The film also stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen, Chadwick Boseman and Daniel Bruhl. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, "Captain America: Civil War" opens in theaters on May 6, 2016. If you want to learn more about Marvel's Phase 3 line-up, you can do so here.
