The Oath (October 12, 2018)

JUMP BACK TO TOP

Director: Ike Barinholtz

Starring: Ike Barinholtz, Tiffany Haddish, Nora Dunn, Chris Ellis, Jon Barinholtz, Meredith Hagner, Carrie Brownstein, John Cho, Billy Magnussen

Synopsis:

"From the producers of GET OUT & BLACKkKLANSMAN comes a raw and riotous political comedy for divisive times.

A controversial White House policy turns family member against family member in THE OATH, a savagely funny dark comedy about surviving life and Thanksgiving in the age of political tribalism. When Chris (Ike Barinholtz), a high-strung 24-hour progressive news junkie, and his more levelheaded wife Kai (Tiffany Haddish) learn that citizens are being asked to sign a loyalty oath to the President, their reaction is disbelief, followed by idealistic refusal. But as the Thanksgiving deadline to sign approaches, the combination of sparring relatives, Chris's own agitation and the unexpected arrival of two government agents (John Cho and Billy Magnussen) sends an already tense holiday dinner gathering completely off the rails.

As timely as it is outrageous, THE OATH is a gleefully wicked reinvention of the traditional holiday comedy for our divisive political times."

JUMP BACK TO TOP

Director: Hannah Marks, Joey Power

Starring: Jeremy Allen White, Maika Monroe, DeRon Horton, Sasha Lane, Joe Keery, Olivia Luccardi, Callie Thorne, Bill Sage, Dean Winters, Gina Gershon, Marisa Tomei

"When Elliot (Jeremy Allen White), a brash 23-year-old living carefree in New York City, meets the sensible Mia (Maika Monroe) and receives a damning diagnosis all in the same week, his world is turned completely upside down. But as their love blossoms amidst the chaos of his treatment, they discover that Elliot's illness is not the real test of their relationship -- it's everything else."

Mara (September 7, 2018)

JUMP BACK TO TOP

Director: Clive Tonge

Starring: Olga Kurylenko, Javier Botet, Mitch Eakins

Synopsis:

"From a producer of Paranormal Activity and Insidious comes this shock-filled descent into fear. After a man is seemingly strangled in his bed, criminal psychologist Kate Fuller (Olga Kurylenko) interviews the sole witness, the victim's eight-year-old daughter, Sophie. When asked to identify the killer, Sophie says, "Mara." As Kate digs into the case, she unearths a community of people who claim to be tormented by a shadowy menace, a centuries-old demon who kills her victims as they sleep."

Killer Kate! (October 26, 2018 - select theaters and VOD)

JUMP BACK TO TOP

Director: Elliot Feld

Starring: Alexandra Feld, Danielle Burgess, Tiffany Shepis, Larry Cedar, Brandon Bales, Amaris Davidson, Abby Eiland

Synopsis:

"Estranged sisters -- Kate and Angie -- haven't spoken since Angie went to college and left Kate to care for their ailing father. In a show of reconciliation, several years after moving out, Angie invites Kate to her bachelorette party held at a remote house booked on a home-sharing app. The women are unaware that by booking this house, they're walking into a trap set in motion by a disturbed family of amateur killers who are out for blood to right a cosmic wrong. They soon become unwitting participants in a savage and often ridiculous life-or-death struggle that pits family against family, and past against present."

Hal (September 14, 2018)

JUMP BACK TO TOP

Director: Amy Scott

Synopsis:

"Although Hal Ashby directed a remarkable string of acclaimed, widely admired classics throughout the 1970s -- HAROLD AND MAUDE, THE LAST DETAIL, SHAMPOO, COMING HOME, BEING THERE -- he is often overlooked amid the crowd of luminaries from his generation. Amy Scott's exuberant portrait explores that curious oversight, using rare archival materials, interviews, personal letters, and audio recordings to reveal a passionate, obsessive artist.

Ashby was a Hollywood director who constantly clashed with Hollywood, but also a unique soul with an unprecedented insight into the human condition and an unmatched capacity for good. His films were an elusive blend of honesty, irreverence, humor, and humanity. Through the heartrending and inspiring HAL, you feel buoyed by Ashby's love of people and of cinema, a little like walking on water."
