The thriller "Berlin Syndrome" tells the story of an Australian photojournalist (Teresa Palmer) backpacking around Germany who has a one-night stand with a handsome stranger (Max Riemelt), but finds herself a captive in his Berlin apartment as the holiday romance transforms into dangerous obsession.

Directed by Cate Shortland ("Lore") and based on the novel of the same name written by Melanie Joosten, the film also stars Lucie Aron, Cem Tuncay and Matthias Habich.

"Berlin Syndrome" premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and opened in select theaters in the U.S. on May 26th, 2017. The film received generally positive reviews.

"While holidaying in Berlin, Australian photographer, Clare, meets Andi, a charismatic local man and there is an instant attraction between them. A night of passion ensues. But what initially appears to be the start of a romance, takes an unexpected and sinister turn when Clare wakes the following morning to discover Andi has left for work and locked her in his apartment. An easy mistake to make, of course, except Andi has no intention of letting her go again. Ever."
