First INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE TV Spot and Posters

independence-day-resurgence-tv-spot-and-new-posters

The first TV spot and eight posters for "Independence Day: Resurgence" have been released. The TV spot features the return of Dr. Brakish Okun (Brent Spiner), the zany scientist from the first film who was telepathically used by one of the aliens to communicate with President Whitmore (Bill Pullman). I always thought the doctor was dead following that scene, but apparently he isn't, and overall I think his return is a good thing for the sequel.

The posters are pretty much eight versions of the same design featuring the new alien city-destroyer (or whatever destroyer it's supposed to be now) hovering over various continents. After all, this is a global threat.

Roland Emmerich returns to helm the second part of the trilogy and the cast includes Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Charlotte Gainsbourg, William Fichtner and Sela Ward.

"Independence Day: Resurgence" opens in theaters on June 24, 2016.
