With December so close, Disney is amping up the marketing campaign for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". Today we have a new TV spot which features some interesting new footage, a Disney XD Behind-the-Scenes Promo, and an IMAX poster.
Among all these new releases, we also have some new information about the film. First of all, the running time has been announced and it's 2 hours and 15 minutes, pretty much on par with other installments in both the original and prequel trilogy. Secondly, J.J. Abrams confirmed that the Starkiller Base featured briefly in the marketing material is indeed a new Death Star, except that it's more powerful and different from the ones in the original trilogy. If you ask me, though, a Death Star is a Death Star, no matter how fancy you superlaser is. They could at least work on those defenses so maybe it won't be so easy to destroy it. You know what they say, third time's the charm. Abrams also revealed that Kylo Ren's mask is a nod to Vader's mask. That, I think, was rather obvious.
Directed by J.J. Abrams ("Star Trek"), the film stars Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong'o, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opens in theaters on December 18, 2015.
