Weekend Box-Office: JURASSIC WORLD Still No.1 Despite INSIDE OUT's Valiant Effort

Weekend Box Office Jurassic World Inside Out

Although Pixar's "Inside Out" made a valiant effort this weekend to be the top movie at the box-office, in the end "Jurassic World" refused to budge and is on its way to breaking a new record.

Find out more about the weekend box office after the jump.

"Jurassic World" is still the top movie at the box-office and it's performing better than anyone could have predicted, dropping only 51% from last week and grossing $102 million this weekend. The domestic total has now reached $398 million while an additional $583 million have been grossed overseas. The film is expected to beat the record for fewest days to $1 billion in the next few days (11th or 12th day). The current record is being held by "Furious 7" with 17 days. "Jurassic World" also managed to score the best second week in history, behind only "The Avengers" which took in $103 in its second weekend.

Pixar's "Inside Out" was also a bit of a surprise hit, even though it couldn't catch up to "Jurassic World". The animated feature grossed $91 million in its first three days, becoming Pixar's second largest opening weekend, behind "Toy Story 3" ($110 million).

Meanwhile, the weekend's other wide release, the Sundance film "Dope" opened in fifth place with $6 million, which is not an impressive result. Still, the film's strong reviews might help the movie reach a respectable total.

New Wide Releases: "Inside Out", "Dope".
