"Avengers: Age of Ultron" continues to dominate the box-office in its second week even though it dropped almost 60% from its opening weekend. Meanwhile, new release "Hot Pursuit" secured a No.2 position but failed to attract much of an audience.
Find out more about the weekend box office after the jump.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" easily held on to the top spot with a weekend gross of $77 million, bringing its domestic total to $312 million and its international cume to $562 million. The film is still trailing behind "The Avengers" which also holds the record for second weekend gross ($103 million), but is ahead of all the other Marvel movies. The film has yet to open in Japan and China, which will no doubt immensely boost its worldwide total.
This week's only wide release, the comedy "Hot Pursuit" starring Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara flopped in second place with $13 million, a poor result given the high-profile duo leading the film. The film was badly reviewed by both critics and moviegoers, so there's little hope that it can pick up in the following weeks. The comedy, however, only cost $35 million to produce, so it will probably manage to at least recoup its investment.
New Wide Releases: "Hot Pursuit".
Biggest Drop : "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (-59.6%)
Smallest Drop : "The Age of Adaline" (-9.7%)
