Will Ferrell ("Get Hard") has joined the comedy "Tom's Dad", a film that should prove an interesting choice for the actor. Directed by Lasse Hallström ("The Cider House Rules"), the film focuses on a struggling nightclub performer in 1960s Nevada, who aims for stardom with a new stage act featuring circus animals, while also trying to reconnect with his estranged 12-year-old son whose mother goes away on a three-week trip. Written by Martin Casella ("One Night Stand") with revisions by Keith Clarke ("The Way Back"), the film sounds like more of a dramedy which could be a nice change of pace for Ferrell in the vein of 2010's underrated "Everything Must Go". Principal photography is set to begin early next year, with further casting underway.
