It's been three years since "Underworld: Awakening", the last installment in the supernatural franchise, but it looks like Lakeshore Entertainment and Screen Gems are ready for a new sequel. Kate Beckinsale is officially on board to reprise the role of Selene and she will be joined by "Divergent" star Theo James, who made a brief appearance in Awakening.
The unofficial title is "Underworld: Next Generation" and it will supposedly be the last chapter in the series. The story will focus on a new, younger generation of vampires and werewolves, which I think could open up the possibility of a spinoff series in the future.
The sequel's script has been penned by Cory Goodman ("Priest"), and directorial duties will be handled by Anna Foerster, who has previously worked as director of photography for Roland Emmerich's "The Day After Tomorrow" and "White House Down".
