Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt to Star in Sci-Fi Drama PASSENGERS

The sci-fi drama "Passengers" is one of those projects that never quite seemed like it would ever get made. Pre-production has already been underway for almost a year, in which time the April 3, 2015 release date was cancelled and Rachel McAdams and Keanu Reeves dropped out of the lead roles.

But now the film has been acquired by Sony and Academy Award nominated director Morten Tyldum ("The Imitation Game") has been brought on board to helm the project. Also, Variety and The Wrap are reporting that Jennifer Lawrence ("The Hunger Games") and Chris Pratt ("Guardians of the Galaxy") are in talks to star.

The story is set in the future and takes place aboard a spacecraft where a man who awakens 90 years early from cryo-sleep decides to wake up a fellow female passenger (Lawrence) for some company and they end up falling in love. The script has been written by Jon Spaihts ("Prometheus"). Spaihts is also attached to pen the script for Marvel's "Doctor Strange".
