Weekend Box-Office Report: THOR - THE DARK WORLD

Thor The Dark World Box Office

Marvel movies continue to be extremely profitable as "Thor: The Dark World" has clearly demonstrated this weekend. The film made its US debut with an impressive $86 million which places it in the top spot at the box-office. The sequel performed better that the first "Thor" ($65 million) in its debut weekend. It still ranks pretty low in the Marvel cinematic universe, far from matching the performances of the "Iron Man" films and "The Avengers", the latter grossing $207 million in its first three days. "Thor: The Dark World" has performed very well overseas, grossing $240 million, so the film will probably manage to reach the billion milestone.

More box-office details and the complete top 10, after the jump.
