Marion Cotillard ("La Vie En Rose", "The Dark Knight Rises") has signed on to star in a new adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Macbeth". Cotillard will replace Natalie Portman for the role of Lady Macbeth. The adaptation is directed by Justin Kurzel ("Snowtown") and written by Todd Louiso & Jacob Koskoff ("The Marc Pease Experience"). Michael Fassbender is set to play the lead role of Macbeth, a Scottish general who becomes the King of Scotland through murder and ends up becoming a tyrant consumed by guilt and paranoia who commits murder after murder to protect himself. The movie has been described as taking a "visceral approach to the story including significant battle scenes." Iain Canning & Emile Sherman ("The King's Speech") will produce the project and production is set to begin at the end of the year with shooting scheduled for January 2014 in the UK.
