Oscar-nominated actress Naomi Watts has been selected to play the lead role in the biopic "Caught in Flight". Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel ("Downfall"), the film captures the last two years of Princess Diana's life and apparently focuses on the secret love-affair between the Princess and Dr. Hasnat Khan. The biopic is said to "chart how finding true personal happiness for the first time allowed her to achieve her defining successes evolving into a major international campaigner and humanitarian." and will begin filming in the UK, later this year. Naomi Watts replaced Jessica Chastain, who had to bow out due to conflicting scheduling, and is certainly enthusiastic about playing this challenging role : "It is such an honour to be able to play this iconic role – Princess Diana was loved across the world, and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen.". "Caught in Flight" is not the only Princess Diana biopic in the works. The other one, produced by Stephen Evans ("The Iron Lady") will be based on the book "Diana: Closely Guarded Secret", which came out in 2009, and it is rumored that Charlize Theron and Carey Mulligan are being considered for the leading role.
