The Super Bowl weekend is notoriously bad for movies, so it's no surprise that last week's #1 movie "Send Help" still leads the pack, which also included newcomers like the romantic comedy "Solo Mio" starring Kevin James, the concert film "Stray Kids: The dominATE Experience", and the horror films "Dracula" and "The Strangers: Chapter 3".

Sam Raimi's "Send Help" topped the charts with $9 million, down 52.6% in its sophomore weekend. The film has now grossed $34.8 million domestically, and with another $17.7 million from overseas markets, its worldwide total now stands at $52.6 million. If it keeps the pace up, it could become Raimi's highest-grossing original film. "Send Help" cost around $40 million to produce.
The Kevin James starrer "Solo Mio" opened in second place with $7 million from 3,052 theaters. It's far from impressive, but not terrible, either, especially considering that the film cost only $4 million to produce. It was heavily promoted through an aggresive multi-faceted online campaign featuring a "stealth" social media strategy, Valentine's Day ticket offers, and interactive sweepstakes. "Solo Mio" seems to have won the hearts of both critics (78% on Rotten Tomatoes) and moviegoers ("A-" CinemaScore), which might help it maintain some momentum.
The sci-fi horror movie "Iron Lung" also known as the Markiplier movie, dropped from second to third place with $5.6 million over the weekend. That's a steep 66.3% decline, but not surprising for the genre. It has now grossed $30.8 million domestically, with another $3.5 million from overseas adding to a worldwide total of $34.3 million. Which is still amazing for a movie with a meager $3 million budget.
The KPop concert documentary "Stray Kids: The dominATE Experience" made its debut in fourth place with $5.6 million from 1,724 theaters, which is distributor Bleecker Street's second biggest opening weekend ever. Internationally it adds anotehr $14 million for a global cume of $19.7 million.
The Top 5 is rounded out by Luc Besson's "Dracula", also known as "Dracula: A Love Story", which made its US debut with $4.4 million from 2,050 screens. It's not particularly great for a film that cost around $52 million to make, but internationally it did rake in $29.1 million, bringing its global tally to $33.5 million, so far. The critical reception has been mixed (55% on Rotten Tomatoes), while moviegoers seemed to enjoy it (80% Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes).
The last of the new wide releases, the horror threequel "The Strangers: Chapter 3" debuted in seventh place with $3.4 million from 2,565 theaters, the worst opening in the new reboot trilogy. "Chapter 1" opened with $11.8 million in 2024, while "Chapter 2" debuted with $5.8 million last year. The new installment reportedly cost around $8.5 million to produce, a budget similar to the other two films. Even if this last chapter ends up being a bomb, Chapter 1 and 2 grossed a combined total of $70 million, which is quite profitable for Lionsgate. "The Strangers: Chapter 3" was savaged by critics (18% on Rotten Tomatoes), and generally hated by audiences ("D" CinemaScore).
In other news, the documentary "Melania" nose-dived from its #3 debut last week to #10 in its sophomore weekend, grossing only $2.3 million, which is a sharp 67.2% drop despite adding another 225 theaters. The Brett Ratner-directed documentary has now grossed $13.3 million against a $40 million budget and another $30-35 million in marketing costs, making it one of the year's considerable flops.
