Stan Olszewski (Kevin Bacon), a sharp but chronically underachieving security guard, drifts through life without much direction, his current goal to find connection with his alienated 20- something daughter Sammi (Brittany O’Grady). Their worlds collide when Stan thwarts a robbery at Cynthia's stately Brooklyn home. What begins as a chance encounter quickly evolves into an unconventional but deep friendship, built on late-night texts, candid confessions, and irreverent humor. As their bond grows their relationship veers into an unexpected romantic entanglement, upending their lives and forcing them to reconsider what they truly want - and what they might be missing. Written and directed by Michael J. Weithorn."

The Chronology of Water (December 5, 2025 - in select theaters; January 9 - nationqide)

JUMP BACK TO TOP

Synopsis:

"Based on the beloved memoir by Lidia Yuknavitch and marking the directorial debut of Kristen Stewart, THE CHRONOLOGY OF WATER is a raw and unflinching portrait of survival, sexuality, and self-invention. The film traces Lidia’s life from her earliest memories in the Pacific Northwest, as a promising swimmer, through fractured relationships, near-motherhood, addiction, and encounters with artistic heroes. Told as a fluid memory wash, the story transforms trauma into art, embodying Yuknavitch’s defiant voice that made her work a modern cult classic. It is not only a chronicle of a woman becoming a writer, but a visceral journey through the wreckage and resilience of a life lived against the grain."
