"FX’s English Teacher stars Brian Jordan Alvarez as “Evan Marquez,” a high school teacher in Austin, Texas who often finds himself at the intersection of the personal, professional and political aspects of working at a high school. Evan wants to be a principled person but often runs into trouble because of it.

Season 2 follows Evan Marquez as he continues to navigate his way through the political minefield known as the American high school. Back with Evan — though not always on his side — are his best friend Gwen, gym teacher Markie, wild card guidance counselor Rick and constantly terrified Principal Grant Moretti. Not surprisingly, Evan still refuses to stay quiet when controversy arises at Morrison-Hensley High. This season, the gang finds themselves in the crosshairs of issues including climate change, COVID, military recruitment and student cellphone usage. Evan also struggles to keep his relationship with Malcolm separate from his work life. Even though Malcolm no longer works at Morrison-Hensley, Evan’s excessive righteousness at school takes an increasing toll on his romantic life. "
