"Wonka" is a musical fantasy film directed by Paul King ("Paddington") from a script he co-wrote alongside Simon Farnaby. The film is an origin story for the character Willy Wonka who first appeared in the 1964 novel "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl. It is also the third film based on Dahl's book, following 1971's "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" and 2005's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".
The cast includes Timothée Chalamet, Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Mathew Baynton, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carter, Natasha Rothwell, Tom Davis, Olivia Colman and Hugh Grant.
"Wonka" opened in theaters on December 15, 2023.
