"The Witches" is a family horror comedy directed by Robert Zemeckis ("Back to the Future", "Forrest Gump") from a script he co-wrote alongside Kenya Barris ("Black-ish") and Guillermo del Toro ("The Shape of Water") based on the 1983 novel of the same name by Roald Dahl. The book was previously adapted into the 1990 film of the same name starring Anjelica Huston.

Set in late 1967, the film tell the story of a young orphaned boy (Jahzir Kadeem Bruno) who has a run in with some real life witches led by the world's Grand High Witch (Anne Hathaway). Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci and Kristin Chenoweth co-star.

"The Witches" was intended as a theatrical release, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was eventually released via HBO Max in the U.S. on October 22, 2020. It will be released in theaters in select markets on October 28, 2020.
