Today we have new trailers for:
  • Marvel's upcoming standalone movie "Black Widow" starring Scarlett Johansson as the titular Russian assassin-turned-Avenger. The plot is set between the events of "Captain America: Civil War" and "Avengers: Infinity War". Directed by Australian filmmaker Cate Shortland ("Somersault", "Lore"), the film also stars Florence Pugh, David Harbour and Rachel Weisz.
  • The true story legal drama "Just Mercy" starring Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Foxx. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton ("Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings"), the film is based on the best-selling memoir of death-row lawyer and social justice activist Bryan Stevenson, who was also the founder of "Equal Justice Initiative". The cast also includes Brie Larson, Rafe Spall, O'Shea Jackson Jr. and Tim Blake Nelson.
  • The stylized punk western "True History of the Kelly Gang" which reimagines the legend of 19th century Australian outlaw Ned Kelly and is based on Peter Carey's acclaimed novel of the same name. The film is directed by Justin Kurzel ("Macbeth", "Assassin's Creed") and it stars George MacKay, Essie Davis, Russell Crowe, Charlie Hunnam, Nicholas Hoult and Thomasin McKenzie.
  • The martial arts action film "Ip Man 4: The Finale", the fourth and final installment in the franchise that stars Donnie Yen. The film is directed by series veteran Wilson Yip.

Just Mercy (December 25, 2019 - limited release)

JUMP BACK TO TOP

Director: Destin Daniel Cretton

Starring: Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx, Brie Larson, Rafe Spall, Tim Blake Nelson, Rob Morgan, O'Shea Jackson Jr.

Synopsis:

"A powerful and thought-provoking true story, JUST MERCY follows young lawyer Bryan Stevenson (Michael B. Jordan) and his history-making battle for justice.

After graduating from Harvard, Bryan had his pick of lucrative jobs. Instead, he heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned or who were not afforded proper representation, with the support of local advocate Eva Ansley (Brie Larson). One of his first, and most incendiary, cases is that of Walter McMillian (Jamie Foxx), who, in 1987, was sentenced to die for the notorious murder of an 18-year-old girl, despite a preponderance of evidence proving his innocence and the fact that the only testimony against him came from a criminal with a motive to lie.

In the years that follow, Bryan becomes embroiled in a labyrinth of legal and political maneuverings and overt and unabashed racism as he fights for Walter, and others like him, with the odds-and the system-stacked against them..."

True History of the Kelly Gang (January 9, 2020 - Australia)

JUMP BACK TO TOP

Director: Justin Kurzel

Starring: George MacKay, Essie Davis, Russell Crowe, Charlie Hunnam, Nicholas Hoult, Orlando Schwerdt, Thomasin McKenzie, Sean Keenan, Earl Cave, Marlon Williams, Louis Hewison, Ben Corbett, Jacob Collins-Levy, Claudia Karvan

Synopsis:

"Inspired by Peter Carey's Man Booker prize winning novel of the same name, Justin Kurzel's TRUE HISTORY OF THE KELLY GANG shatters the mythology of the notorious icon to reveal the essence behind the life of Ned Kelly and force a country to stare back into the ashes of its brutal past.

Spanning the younger years of Ned’s life to the time leading up to his death, the film explores the blurred boundaries between what is bad and what is good, and the motivations for the demise of its hero. Youth and tragedy collide in the Kelly Gang, and at the beating heart of this tale is the fractured and powerful love story between a mother and a son."

Underneath lies a deep rooted racial discrimination that is far worse than he has expected. Ip Man re-examines his position and ponders on the reason he took up martial arts in the beginning."
