Diane (March 29, 2019 - in theaters and on VOD)

JUMP BACK TO TOP

Director: Kent Jones

Starring: Mary Kay Place, Jake Lacy, Andrea Martin, Estelle Parsons, Deirdre O'Connell, Joyce Van Patten, Phyllis Somerville, Glynnis O'Connor, Paul McIsaac

Synopsis:

"For Diane (Mary Kay Place), everyone else comes first. Generous but with little patience for self-pity, she spends her days checking in on sick friends, volunteering at her local soup kitchen, and trying valiantly to save her troubled, drug-addicted adult son (Jake Lacy) from himself.

But beneath her relentless routine of self-sacrifice, Diane is fighting a desperate internal battle, haunted by a past she can't forget and which threatens to tear her increasingly chaotic world apart. Built around an extraordinary, fearless performance from Mary Kay Place, the narrative debut from Kent Jones is a profound, beautifully human portrait of a woman rifling through the wreckage of her life in search of redemption."

The Souvenir (May 17, 2019)

JUMP BACK TO TOP

Director: Joanna Hogg

Starring: Honor Swinton Byrne, Tom Burke, Tilda Swinton, Richard Ayoade, Jack McMullen

She defies her protective mother (Tilda Swinton) and concerned friends as she slips deeper and deeper into an intense, emotionally fraught relationship that comes dangerously close to destroying her dreams.

From acclaimed writer-director Joanna Hogg comes an enigmatic and personal portrait of the artist as a young woman, combining passionate emotions and exquisite aesthetics into a lush, dreamlike story of young adulthood and first love. At once enrapturing and mysteriously unsettling -- and featuring a profoundly layered breakout performance by Honor Swinton Byrne -- THE SOUVENIR is an essential and enduring film from one of our most distinctive and exciting filmmakers."

The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley (March 18, 2019 - HBO)

JUMP BACK TO TOP

Director: Alex Gibney

Synopsis:

"Academy Award winner Alex Gibney (Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, HBO's Emmy-winning Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief) directs a documentary investigating the rise and fall of Theranos, the one-time multibillion-dollar healthcare company founded by Elizabeth Holmes.

In 2004, Elizabeth Holmes dropped out of Stanford to start a company that was going to revolutionize healthcare. In 2014, Theranos was valued at $9 billion, making Holmes, who was touted as "the next Steve Jobs," the youngest self-made female billionaire in the world. Just two years later, Theranos was cited as a "massive fraud" by the SEC, and its value was less than zero.

Drawing on extraordinary access to never-before-seen footage and testimony from key insiders, director Alex Gibney will tell a Silicon Valley tale that was too good to be true. With all the drama of a real-life heist film, the untitled documentary will examine how this could have happened and who is responsible, while exploring the psychology of deception."
