"Amityville: The Awakening" is a reboot of the Amityville horror franchise that first started in 1979 and was followed by a series of seven sequels and a 2005 remake.

Written and directed by Franck Khalfoun ("P2"), the film follows teenager Belle Walker (Bella Thorne), who moves with her family into a new house located in Amityville, Long Island. The house was the site of a mass murder in 1974, and is now supposedly haunted. Needless to say, things take a turn for the worse.

The cast also includes Jennifer Jason Leigh, Cameron Monaghan, Mckenna Grace, Thomas Mann, Jennifer Morrison, Kurtwood Smith and Taylor Spreitler.

After a difficult production and several delays, "Amityville: The Awakening" was finally released in only 10 theaters on October 28, 2017 and grossed just $742. The film received mostly negative reviews.

In the film, Belle and her family move into a new house, but when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn't telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house."
