Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" continues its amazing box-office performance, even as "Power Rangers" made an impressive debut. Meanwhile, newcomers "Life" and "CHiPs" failed to impress audiences.

Find out more about the weekend box office after the jump.

"Beauty and the Beast" finished its second weekend at #1 with $88.3 million, bringing its domestic cume to $316.9 million. This is the fourth largest second weekend of all-time. The film also scored a total of $373.3 million overseas, making this the fourth consecutive Walt Disney movie to cross the $600 million mark worldwide. The other three were "Doctor Strange", "Moana" and "Rogue One".

In second place, Lionsgate's reboot of Saban's "Power Rangers" franchise grossed $40.5 million in its opening weekend. It's a decent performance for a franchise that didn't seem to have any life left in it. The previous film based on the superhero property was released in 1995 and grossed $75.9 million (adjusted for inflation) in its entire theatrical run. The upcoming weeks will be very important for Lionsgate to map out the franchise's future installments. The reboot cost $100 million to produce, and with only $18.7 million grossed internationally, the studio is not out of the woods yet. "Power Rangers" received an "A" from CinemaScore's exit polls, while critics weren't very impressed judging from the 46% from Rotten Tomatoes and 44 from Metacritic.

"Kong: Skull Island" continues to perform well in third place with $14.4 million this weekend. The reboot has grossed 133.5 million domestically and another $258.6 million from overseas markets. The latter cume was substantially increased by the film's debut in China, where it grossed $72.1 million this weekend.

The sci-fi horror film "Life" made its debut in fourth place with $12.6 million, which isn't that great for the $58 million production. The film didn't impress moviegoers, who gave it a "C+" according to CinemaScore, while critics had mixed feelings (67% on Rotten Tomatoes and 55 on Metacritic).

"Logan" rounds up the Top 5 with $10.1 million over the weekend. The film has crossed the $200 million milestone and its international cume is now at $364 million.

This week's other new wide release, the R-rated comedy "CHiPs" scored a weak $7.6 million debut. Luckily, the film's budget is estimated at a low $25 million, although it might prove to be too much to recuperate with such a poor opening weekend. The film received a "B-" from CinemaScore, while critics pretty much demolished it (20% on Rotten Tomatoes and 29 on Metacritic).

New Wide Releases: "Power Rangers", "CHiPs", "Life".

Biggest Drop : "The LEGO Batman Movie" (-57%)
