Zac Efron to Join Dwayne Johnson in BAYWATCH Movie

Here's one movie I never saw coming. The 1990s TV series "Baywatch" will get its own big screen version and a very interesting cast, so far. Developed by Paramount Pictures, the film already had Dwayne Johnson attached to star and Seth Gordon ("Horrible Bosses") set to direct. Now, Zac Efron is in negotiations to join the project.

The plot will follow a very serious lifeguard (Johnson) who is forced to team up with a young hothead (Efron) in order to save their beach from environmental destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon. The script will be penned by "Freddy Vs. Jason" scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift and it is said to be a self-aware comedy in the style of "21 Jump Street". Johnson also revealed that it will be rated R. Production is set to begin in February 2016.

Efron has recently finished filming the comedy "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates" and will begin filming the sequel "Neighbors 2". He can also be seen this month in the DJ drama "We Are Your Friends".
