Paul Feig's "Ghostbusters" reboot is filming in Boston, but that hasn't stopped Feig from sharing quite a lot of updates. We have some new images (below) featuring the Ecto-1, the Ghostbusters' iconic vehicle, the new Proton pack used to capture the immaterial entities, the new uniforms that the ladies will be wearing on the job, and three set photos.
The new crew will feature Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones, and we also have some updates regarding the supporting cast. Andy Garcia ("The Untouchables") and Michael K. Williams ("Boardwalk Empire") have just joined the cast in unspecified roles. It was also announced that Neil Casey ("Other Space") is on board as the film's villain, and Chris Hemsworth ("Thor") will star as the Ghostbusters' secretary, a role played by Annie Potts in the original.
The new "Ghostbusters" will be released on July 22nd, 2016.
And until we get an actual official synopsis, here are some plot details reported by the Boston Herald:
"Wiig and McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world."
