Matthew McConaughey has joined the cast of the drama "The Billionaire's Vinegar". The film is based on Benjamin Wallace's book "The Billionaire's Vinegar: The Mystery of the World’s Most Expensive Bottle of Wine" and it deals with the scandal which resulted from the sale of wine bottles that were assumed to have been owned by Thomas Jefferson, but turned out to be fakes. The screenplay has been written by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas ("3:10 To Yuma"). The film is produced by Todd Black, James Lassiter, Jason Blumenthal, Will Smith and Steve Tisch, who have previously teamed up for "The Pursuit of Happyness" and "Seven Pounds". McConaughey can also be seen in Gus Van Sant's "Sea of Trees" and is currently filming the Civil War drama "Free State of Jones" directed by Gary Ross.
