Kristen Stewart is in negotiations to join the cast of Ang Lee's upcoming Iraq War satire "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk". The film is based on Ben Fountain's novel of the same name and it revolves around 19-year-old infantryman Billy Lynn (newcomer Joe Alwyn) and his fellow squad members who become involved in a propagandistic media circus after surviving a firefight in Iraq. The Bush administration brings the veterans home for a victory lap that leads them to the Dallas Cowboys' football stadium where they're honored during the team's Thanksgiving halftime show before they return to war in Iraq.
Stewart will be playing the role of Kathryn, Billy's older sister. The cast also features Steve Martin and Garrett Hedlund. The screenplay has been written by Academy Award winner Simon Beaufoy ("Slumdog MIllionaire"). Production is scheduled to begin this month.
