NEWS UPDATE : Michelle Pfeiffer, Guy Ritchie, Iron Man 3 and Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher

  • Michelle Pfeiffer is in talks to join Robert De Niro in Luc Besson's new crime comedy, "Malavita". The movie is based on Tonino Benacquista's novel "Badfellas" and follows an American mafia family which moves to France as part of a witness protection program. De Niro will star as the head of the family, while Pfeiffer will star as the wife. The movie is set for release sometime in April next year, in France.

  • Guy Ritchie takes a brake from the "Sherlock Holmes" franchise to direct a new adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island" for Warner Brothers. Ritchie will produce alongside Lionel Wigram. The duo is responsible for the creative twists behind the recent "Sherlock Holmes" movies starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, so it's safe to assume that the new "Treasure Island" will be similarly zany.

  • Spike Jonze ("Being John Malkovich", "Adaptation") is rounding up the cast for his new project. The movie, which follows a man who falls in love with the voice of his computer application, has brought aboard impressive actors such as Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Amy Adams, Samantha Morton and Olivia Wilde. Jonze will write and direct.

  • We finally know who the villain is in the upcoming "Iron Man 3". It has been confirmed that Ben Kingsley will play The Mandarin, a sort of mystical criminal mastermind who in the comics drew his power from 10 rings of occult energy. Filming has already begun (so check out some on-set pictures on Facebook) and the full and definitve cast now features (besides Downey Jr. and Kingsley) Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Rebecca Hall, James Badge Dale, Ashley Hamilton and Guy Pearce. The sequel is written and directed by Shane Black ("Lethal Weapon", "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang") and opens on May 3, 2013 in the US.

  • The Tom Cruise military thriller known as "One Shot" has changed its title. Not by itself of course, movies can't do that. The creative minds behind it, including director/writer Christopher McQuarrie ("Valkyrie") and producers Cruise, Paula Wagner and Jake Myers, have come to the conclusion that the new title should be "Jack Reacher". The title is actually the name of the movie's protagonist and hero of a series of novels written by Lee Child. The movie (based on the novel "One Shot") follows ex-military investigator Reacher (Cruise) as he tries to capture a serial sniper. Also starring are Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins, Robert Duvall, David Oyelowo and Werner Herzog (as the villain). "Jack Reacher" opens on December 21, 2012 in the US.
