Directed by Stefano Sollima ("A.C.A.B.", "Gomora"), the action thriller "Sicario: Day of the Soldado" is a sequel to Denis Villeneuve's 2015 film "Sicario". The script is once again written by Taylor Sheridan ("Hell or High Water").

Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro reprise their roles as CIA agent Matt Graver and mysterious assassin Alejandro. The two join forces to burn down the cartels responsible for trafficking terrorists across the U.S. border.

The film also stars Isabela Moner, Jeffrey Donovan, Catherine Keener, Matthew Modine, Shea Whigham, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Elijah Rodriguez.

"Sicario: Day of the Soldado" opened in theaters on June 29, 2018. The film received mixed to positive reviews from critics. Sony is anticipating a $12 million opening weekend, but after the film grossed $2 million from Thursday night previews, pundits are expecting a slightly bigger debut.

"In Sicario: Day of the Soldado, the series begins a new chapter. In the drug war, there are no rules--and as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the US border, federal agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) calls on the mysterious Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro), whose family was murdered by a cartel kingpin, to escalate the war in nefarious ways. Alejandro kidnaps the kingpin's daughter to inflame the conflict--but when the girl is seen as collateral damage, her fate will come between the two men as they question everything they are fighting for."
