The sci-fi adventure film "Ready Player One" is directed by Steven Spielberg and based on the novel of the same name by Ernest Cline.

The film is set in 2045, when humanity has become dependent on virtual reality to escape the bleak reality. One such virtual reality program is OASIS, where people can go anywhere, do anything, and be anyone. When the creator of OASIS dies, a contest is set in motion, and the winner will inherit both his immense fortune and control of the Oasis.

The film stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Simon Pegg, T.J. Miller, Hannah John-Kamen, Mark Rylance, Ralph Ineson, Susan Lynch and Lena Waithe.

"Ready Player One" opened in theaters on March 11, 2018 and received mostly positive reviews from critics. The film grossed $53 million in the 4-day Easter opening weekend and ranks as Spielberg's largest opening since the $100 million debut of "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull".
