Cannes 2017: Complete List of Winners

The awards for the 70th edition of the Cannes Film Festival have been handed out on May 28th in the Lumiere Theatre. The winner of the coveted Palme d'Or was the satirical drama "The Square" directed by Ruben Östlund ("Force Majeure"). The film tells the story of a successful curator of a modern art museum, played by Claes Bang, whose life begins to unravel as he prepares for a prestigious exhibition called "The Square". The film also stars Elisabeth Moss and Dominic West. The AIDS drama "120 Beats per Minute" lost the Palme d'Or, but won the Grand Prix award.

Sofia Coppola won Best Director for her work on the southern gothic drama "The Beguiled". In acting categories, Joaquin Pheonix took home an award for Lynne Ramsay's "You Were Never Really Here", and Diane Kruger scored a win for the terrorism drama "In the Fade". The screenplay award was jointly awarded to Ramsay for "You Were Never Really Here" and Yorgos Lanthimos for "The Killing Of Sacred Deer". The Jury Prize went to "Loveless", a Russian drama directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev ("Leviathan").
