THE STANFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT Trailer, Images and Poster

The Stanford Prison Experiment Movie Trailer, Images and Poster

Today we have the official trailer and poster for the indie drama "The Stanford Prison Experiment" which received a Grand Jury Prize nomination at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and won two awards for Feature Film and Screenwriting.

The film is based on a true story and chronicles a 1971 experiment which took place in the basement of the Stanford psychology building in which twenty-four male students were randomly assigned roles of prisoners and guards in a mock prison. The experiment was meant to study the psychological effects of becoming a prisoner or prison guard and has since become a classic study on the psychology of imprisonment covered in most introductory psychology textbooks.

Directed by Kyle Patrick Alvarez ("C.O.G."), the film stars Ezra Miller, Olivia Thirlby, Billy Crudup, Tye Sheridan, Nicholas Braun, Keir Gilchrist, Michael Angarano and Thomas Mann.

"The Stanford Prison Experiment" opens in theaters on July 17th.

Official Synopsis
"In this tense, psychological thriller based on the notorious true story, Billy Crudup stars as Stanford University professor Dr. Philip Zimbardo, who, in 1971, cast 24 student volunteers as prisoners and guards in a simulated jail to examine the source of abusive behavior in the prison system. The results astonished the world, as participants went from middle-class undergrads to drunk-with-power sadists and submissive victims in just a few days. Winner of two awards at the Sundance Film Festival, including Best Screenplay, and created with the close participation of Dr. Zimbardo himself, “The Stanford Prison Experiment” features an extraordinary cast of rising young actors, including Ezra Miller, Olivia Thirlby, Tye Sheridan, Keir Gilchrist, Michael Angarano, and Thomas Mann."
