Ang Lee's Iraq War satire
"Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk" continues to round up a very interesting cast. After last week we got news that
Kristen Stewart had been cast, we now have an announcement that
Vin Diesel and
Chris Tucker have just joined the project. The film is based on the novel by
Ben Fountain which focuses on the members of a squad, who after surviving a horrible firefight in Iraq, become involved in an absurd media circus which involves a "Victory Tour" at Texas Stadium. The story takes place over the course of a single day with flashbacks providing further narrative detail. The ensemble, so far, also includes
Garrett Hedlund and
Steve Martin.
"Slumdog Millionaire" scribe
Simon Beaufoy will pen the adaptation. The film will be shot in Ultra High Frame Rate 3D, which is curious for this kind of movie, but it also could be a sign that the
"Life of Pi" director is preparing something special.
