Director David Ayer has released the first image of Jared Leto as The Joker from his upcoming DC Comics adaptation "Suicide Squad". The transformation is extreme, some might even say over-the-top, but I like that they're willing to go a different route with this character. It's also exactly what I'd expect from an Ayer film. Besides, if you want scary, it doesn't get much scarier that this. Would you want to cross paths with this character on a dark alley ? The tattoos, however, seem a little gratuitous, especially the "damaged" inscription on his forehead. They're also not in tune with the character's warped sense of humor, unless they're planning on providing an actual origin story for him that woul justify the tats.
The film also stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc and Viola Davis as Amanda Walker.
"Suicide Squad" opens in theaters on August 5, 2016.

Official Synopsis
"A secret government agency run by Amanda Waller, named A.R.G.U.S creates a task force comprised of super villains. They call it: the Suicide Squad because sometimes... they don't come back. They are assigned to execute dangerous tasks in exchange for shorter prison sentences."
