Guillermo del Toro has been attached to this project since 2010, but things have been moving slowly. Last year del Toro announced that he and Disney are still working out the script. Now, with Gosling attached to star, things will probably move forward rapidly.
Disney is also busy with its lineup of live-action adaptations based on their animated classics, to which the studio recently added "Mulan", "Winnie the Pooh", "Pinocchio" and "Dumbo". Del Toro is also tied up with the release of his gothic horror "Crimson Peak" and preparations for "Pacific Rim 2"
