The first trailer, images and posters for the true story crime drama "Black Mass" have been released. Directed by Scott Cooper ("Out of the Furnace", "Crazy Heart") and based on Dick Lehr's book, the film stars Johnny Depp as the infamous Whitey Bulger, a notoriously violent criminal who worked as an FBI informer to eliminate a rival family invading his turf, but got burned when the FBI double crossed him and ultimately prosecuted him.
It looks like Depp gives one hell of a performance. He's undergone a serious make-up transformation, as is usually the case with recent characters played by Depp, but this time he truly looks and sounds terrifying. And Cooper is a very promising director, so I have high hopes for this movie. The cast also features Dakota Johnson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Joel Edgerton, Juno Temple, Corey Stoll, Kevin Bacon, Adam Scott, Jesse Plemons, Peter Sarsgaard and Julianne Nicholson.
"Black Mass" opens in theaters on September 18th.
