Dakota Fanning ("The Twilight Saga") and Jennifer Connelly ("Noah") have joined the cast of Phillip Noyce's new film "American Pastoral". Based on the novel by Philip Roth, the film "follows Seymour “Swede” Levov, a legendary high school athlete, who grows up to marry a former beauty queen and inherits his father’s business. Swede’s seemingly perfect life shatters when his daughter rebels by becoming a revolutionary and commits a deadly act of political terrorism during the Vietnam War." Fanning will play Merry Levov, the daughter of Seymour Levov, who will be played by Ewan McGregor and Dawn, who will be played by Connelly. The screenplay has been written by John Romano ("The Lincoln Lawyer"). Initially, when the film was being developed in 2004, Paul Bettany was set to play the part of Swede and Evan Rachel Wood was attached to star as Merry.
