While "The Bourne Legacy" was not as successful as the original Bourne trilogy, a sequel was certainly expected. Now, it has been announced that director Justin Lin ("Fast & Furious 6") will direct the next installment which will be based on the novel "The Bourne Betrayal" by author Eric Van Lustbader. Lustbader, who also wrote "The Bourne Legacy" took over the stories set in the Bourne universe, while Bourne himself was created by Robert Ludlum. The sequel will probably be released in 2015 and Jeremy Renner will return to play Aaron Cross . Until then, here is the synopsis for the book "The Bourne Betrayal":
"Already devastated by loss, Bourne is shattered by a report that his last friend in the world, Martin Lindros has gone missing. A CI deputy director, Lindros was in Ethiopia tracking suspicious shipments of yellowcake uranium and atomic bomb weaponry. His last lifeline to humanity, Bourne will not let Lindros go. Despite his hatred for CI, Bourne sets out to rescue his friend and finish the job: dismantling a terrorist network determined to build nuclear armaments by cutting off their source of money. But Bourne doesn’t realize that these men, Islamic supremacists, are leaders of an incredibly dangerous, technologically savvy group with ties from Africa, across the Middle East, and into Eastern Europe and Russia. They have predicted Bourne’s every move, and are counting on his unwitting help in their plans to destroy America."

saw-sequel

Lionsgate is working on a new "Saw" sequel. This is, for now, a rumor that's been circulating through various sources, but considering the franchise's success, it's not all that improbable. The last entry in the series, "Saw 3D" was released in 2010, and since then, "Paranormal Activity" took over the month of October. According to Bloody Disgusting, Lionsgate is not in any rush to release a new "Saw" as they are trying to get it right before moving forward. Given the quality of the sequels and how ridiculous the story got in the end, I think it's a good thing that they're waiting for the right story for the follow-up. While there were rumors that the studio might consider a remake, it seems that in the end they would prefer to go with "Saw 8"

"Horrible Bosses 2" has started production. Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx and Kevin Spacey will reprise their role from the first film and they will be joined by new villains played by Christoph Waltz and Chris Pine. You can read more details about the sequel's plot in the following press release. "Horrible Bosses 2" will open in theaters on November 28, 2014.
"Filming has begun in Los Angeles on New Line Cinema’s “Horrible Bosses 2,” directed by Sean Anders (“Sex Drive”). The follow-up to the 2011 hit comedy “Horrible Bosses” reunites stars Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis as everyone’s favorite working stiffs Nick, Dale and Kurt. Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx and Kevin Spacey also reprise their starring roles, while Chris Pine and Christoph Waltz star as new adversaries standing between the guys and their dreams of success.

Fed up with answering to higher-ups, Nick, Dale and Kurt decide to become their own bosses by launching their own business in “Horrible Bosses 2.” But a slick investor soon pulls the rug out from under them. Outplayed and desperate, and with no legal recourse, the three would-be entrepreneurs hatch a misguided plan to kidnap the investor’s adult son and ransom him to regain control of their company.

Sean Anders directs from a screenplay by Anders & John Morris (“We’re the Millers”), and by John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein (“Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2”), who also served as writers on the first film. “Horrible Bosses 2” is being produced by Brett Ratner, Jay Stern, John Morris, John Rickard and Chris Bender, with Diana Pokorny and John Cheng serving as executive producers.

The behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Julio Macat (“Pitch Perfect”), production designer Clayton Hartley (“We’re the Millers”), editor Eric Kissack (“The Dictator”) and costume designer Carol Ramsey (“Identity Thief”).

“Horrible Bosses 2” is a New Line Cinema presentation of a RatPac Entertainment/Benderspink production. The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. "

"The Wolverine 2" is moving forward and 20th Century Fox is currently in negotiations with director James Mangold and Hugh Jackman. Deadline reports that Mangold is in talks to "write the treatment". "X-Men" franchise producer Lauren Shuler Donner is attached to produce the sequel. Once the negotiations end we can expect a more robust official press release offering some details about where the Wolverine series is headed.

Well, it seems that "Evil Dead 4" aka "Army of Darkness 2" is not happening, after all. This past week there were several confusing rumors inflated by "Evil Dead" remake director Fede Alvarez and Bruce Campbell himself. You can read all about the sequel statements here. Now Campbell shoots down the sequel rumors himself in a recent interview. Watch it below:
