Model-turned-actress Kate Upton ("The Three Stooges") is in early talks to join the cast of the "Entourage" movie. The adaptation had been delayed because of contractual disputes with the HBO series' actors. In the end, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Jeremy Piven were secured in the lead roles, so it's time for the filmmakers to move on to casting the other roles. Upton has been eyed for the female lead. Details about the role have not been released and Warner Bros. has no comment on the subject. It's all very unofficial at this point, but once a rumor finds its way on the Internet, chances are there's a bit of truth to it. The feature film adaptation of HBO's "Entourage" will be directed by the show's creator Doug Ellin, who also wrote the script.
Jason Statham is set to star in "Viva La Madness", the sequel to Matthew Vaughn's "Layer Cake". Statham will take over the role which was played by Daniel Craig in the 2004 film. The rights for J.J. Connolly's follow-up novel have been acquired by Statham and co-producer Steve Chasman. Connolly himself will write the script. Jason Statham can also be seen next year in "The Expendables 3" and "Fast & Furious 7".
Richard Gere is attached to star in the indie dramedy "Old Fires". Gere will star as "a world-renowned architect who emerges from a coma in need of both physical and mental rehabilitation. With the help of his snarky female physical therapist, he tries to repair his damaged relationship with his children and win back his wife’s love. The cast also includes Bryan Cranston, Jason Segel and Jennifer Ehle. The project had several setbacks along the way. In May, Ehle revealed via Twitter that the project had been "indefinitely postponed" and for a while, Jonathan Demme ("The Silence of the Lambs") was attached to direct. While Demme is definitely off the project, the production seems to be moving forward, even though no start date has officially been set.
Idris Elba ("Luther") is set to star in the thriller "Bastille Day" which will be produced by Philippe Rousselet's Vendome Pictures. According to Variety, the plot "revolves around a U.S. operative who is tasked with interrogating and eventually making a young American boy “disappear” in order to avoid embarrassment to the U.S. government after the boy is linked as the prime suspect to an attack on the Paris metro. After several more attacks, the operative realizes the boy is innocent and may be the only link to the person actually orchestrating the attacks." The screenplay has been written by Andrew Baldwin, but no director has been set.
