SWORD OF THE DEMON HUNTER: KIJIN GENTOSHO Anime Series Trailers, Images and Posters

"Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho" is an anime series directed by Kazuya Aiura ("Assassin's Pride") and adapted by Deko Akao ("Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp") based on the 2019-2023 fantasy novel series written by Moto Nakanishi and illustrated by Tamaki. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes an English language version of the novels as well as the manga adaptation with artwork by Yu Satomi.

Produced by Yokohama Animation Lab, the show features the voices of Taku Yashiro, Reina Ueda, Saori Hayami, Hiroshi Shirokuma and Yui Kondo. The series will broadcast in Japan beginning on March 31, 2025. HIDIVE will also stream the series in the United States on March 31st.

"In the Edo period, there was a shrine maiden called “Itskihime” in the mountain village of Kadono. Jinta, a wandering orphan who, along with his younger sister Suzune, drifted into the village and grew up to become the shrine maiden’s guardian, ventures into the forest to defeat a mysterious demon who speaks to him of the far future and the threat of a Demon God. So begins this epic supernatural historical fantasy series that follows a demon hunter through his century-spanning journey from the Edo to Heisei periods—all-the-while questioning his wielding of a sword."

"For generations, a shrine has stood in the mountain village of Kadono, and for each generation the shrine has had an Itsukihime—its shrine maiden—and the maiden has had her guardian. During the Edo period, a young man named Jinta protects the town and the Itsukihime. When he confronts a strange demon in the nearby forest, it tells him that in the distant future a Demon God will threaten all people, everywhere, and it claims that the the Demon God’s rise to power springs from this very time and place, in the village of Kadono. So begins the centuries-spanning journey of a man tainted by demons, hunting through time to seek justice for what he’s lost, and to find a reason to keep on fighting."
