"Concrete Cowboy" is a western drama directed by Ricky Staub from a script he co-wrote alongside Dan Walser based on the novel "Ghetto Cowboy" by Greg Neri.
Inspired by the Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club and urban African-American horseriding culture in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the story follows a 15-year-old boy (Caleb McLaughlin) from Detroit who is sent to live with his estranged father (Idris Elba) in Philadelphia and learns about the local urban cowboys. Kharrel Jerome, Byron Bowers, Lorraine Toussaint, Method Man and Devenie Young co-star.
"Concrete Cowboy" premiered at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival, and was released on April 2, 2021 on Netflix.
